Summary
The terminology of psychology and basic findings in the field of human’s mental performance. The role of the communication in interpersonal relations, the communication forms and their use in an interaction with patients and disabled ones.Ethical and legislative norms, the importance of obligatory discretion and patient’s rights. The fundamentals of healthcare ethical codex.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
The aim of the course is to introduce basics of psychology of personality. Introduction to a valve system which is the base of professional behavior of a healthcare staff.
Course Contents
- Psychology, its definition, the object, tasks, system, relationship to other sciences. Basic psychological concepts (mental, mental content, mental processes, psychological states, feelings and behavior, consciousness and unconscious, subconscious and předvědomí). Methods of psychology. Cognitive processes. Sensory processes, perceptual processes. Intelligence - the types of intelligence. Emotion - theory of emotion, the relationship of emotions and motives, the function of emotions in mental life. Aggression. Motivation - motivation theory (theory of instincts, instinct, drive, arousal, needs). Will a decision.
-Introduction to social psychology, group characteristics, methods of social psychology. Developmental traits logical characteristics of each period).
-Introduction to Health Psychology - definition. Psychological problems of the patient - an attitude to the disease. Psychological course of illness - health care and patient attitude to the disease.
-Ethics as a philosophical discipline, methods and principles of ethics. Changes in medical ethics at the time (the Chinese and Indian philosophy, Greek philosophy). The subject of ethics, the importance of ethics for health care worker. Ethics as a theory of morality and ethics. Contemporary Ethics.
-Solution dilemma / conflict situations from an ethical point of view. Analysis of specific case studies.
-Preventing HIV transmission to unsuspecting patients. Preventing the privacy young pregnant women. Invest where the prevention of the most apparent?
-Ethics of death and dying (the ethics in the care of the dying). The issue of euthanasia
-The Council of Europe to care for the terminally ill
-The issue of abortion, artificial insemination, Suicide
-The issue of organ donation
