Summary
The professional practice is implemented in the social services workplaces focusing on seniors, clients with disabilities and mental illnesses (day care centers, day and weekly homes, homes for people with disabilities, homes for the elderly, homes with special regime, sheltered housing, early care, after-care facilities).
The aim of the continuous practice in social service organizations (state and non-state) is to get acquainted with the common practice of workers in social services. The partial objectives include: getting acquainted with a specific workplace, understanding clients and their needs, acquiring general working skills in the context of the workplace, developing communication skills and the content of nursing practice at the clients of the workplace. The practice is oriented towards education to perform professional activity in social services, which is focused on assistance, support and care for users of social service and is defined by basic activities in § 35 of Act No. 108/2006 Coll. on social services.

The practice is started and finished in the form of an introductory workshop.
The course of the practice will be conducted in a paper form.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
- is familiar with the work experience of direct care workers in social service organizations,
- can orientate in the organizational structure of the selected organization of practice,
- can communicate with the selected target group of clients of the given social service,
- knows and is able to meet the basic needs of clients,
- can help self-sufficiency in basal and instrumental activities (walking / walking, hygiene, eating, emptying, etc.)
- knows ways of activating clients in the social service and their importance,
- can engage in activation activities when working with clients in a selected social service,
- can apply knowledge in practical situations.
- Manages and applies technical solutions to assistive technologies
Course Contents
Syllabus of the subject for professional practice realized at the workplace of social services
1. Prerequisites for placements in practice, clarification of the position of the student practicing and the content of the contract for practice. Learning plan, contract of practice.
2. Tutorial between mentor and student learning plan - schedule of activities.
