Specific Arrangements for the Recognition of Prior Learning
Informal learning - max. 60% of credits gained in prior lifelong learning can be recognized, as determined by the Dean of the Faculty.

Qualification Requirements:
Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Programme
(in Czech only) The study programme focuses on an are which is professional and creative. The graduates will be able to independently analyse assignments, design alternative solutions for project documentation, communicate about technical issues with the client and the implementors, create their own project documentation on the required SW platform, and present and defend the project at all of its stages. In implementation projects, the graduates will be able to lead the designed work under construction, manage the implementation of the technology, and, as the case may be, instruct professional operators. After the completion of an appropriate period of practice and acquisition of a licence, the graduate will be allowed to work as an authorized engineer with all relevant competences.

Knowledge:
- a broad knowledge and understanding of the subject and extent of the given branch - an extensive knowledge of the theory, concepts and methods of the branch - an understanding of the possibilities, conditions and limitations of the application of theory, concepts and methods of the branch in practice - broad skills in designing project documentation with respect to requested conditions
Skills:
- deal with practical problems in the branch on the basis of a generally defined task using their professional knowledge - search for, sort out and interpret relevant information to solve a defined practical problem - apply some of the elementary research procedures of the branch in the extent necessary to solve practical problems of the branch - acquisition of practical skills at leading designing and engineering organizations
General competencies:
- make independent and responsible decisions in less-well-known contexts on the basis of a general assignment - coordinate the operation of a team on the basis of a general assignment and defined sources, and to bear responsibility for the results - consider the ethical aspect of the given problem - communicate to both experts and laymen the information about the nature of technical problems and his/her own opinion concerning the solutions in a comprehensible and convincing way -sum up the opinions of other team members in a comprehensible way -apply their expert knowledge, professional skills and general competence in at least one foreign language -acquire further professional knowledge, skills and competence individually, mainly on the basis of practical experience and its evaluation, but also by individual study of the theoretical findings in the branch -ensure safe execution of work – project using all available means, applying up-to-date knowledge and procedures in accordance with the state of the art and the law
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
The graduates will usually offer their knowledge and skills to a wide range of employers. In particular, this concerns the following entities: 1) engineering and design organizations 2) construction organizations 3) organizations of the public and state administrations 4) production and service organizations Also, the graduates will be able to offer their knowledge and skills as self-employed individuals in the above mentioned areas.

Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
