Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Qualification Requirements:
Finished higher education in Bachelor's degree programme.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Programme
The Master’s study programme of Electrical Engineering ensures high adaptability of the graduates to all particular requirements of their future professional practice, focusing either on operation and engineering or science and research. The study programme is based on a high-quality theoretical education and universal basis of an application-oriented study in various branches of electrical engineering. This Master’s programme is divided into four branches of study: Applied Electronics, Electrical Power Engineering, Control and Information Systems, and Biomedical Engineering.
Key Learning Outcomes
Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies
Knowledge:
The graduates in the study programme of Electrical Engineering have a broad and deep knowledge in the individual areas of electrical engineering that corresponds to the current state of the art. They understand the state-of-the-art theories, concepts and methods of the branch. They are able to apply the knowledge from related branches in their own branch.
Skills:
Using their expert knowledge, the graduates in the programme of Electrical Engineering are able to independently define and creatively deal with a practical or theoretical problem within the branch. They can solve complex problems independently and creatively, using selected theories, concepts and methods of the branch, and apply some of the advanced research procedures of the branch to obtain new, original information.
General competencies:
The graduates in the study programme of Electrical Engineering are able to make independent and responsible decisions in new or changing contexts of the individual technical fields of electrical engineering, considering the broader social consequences of the decisions. Furthermore, they are able to determine assignments of professional activities from available sources, they can coordinate them and bear responsibility for the results. They can comprehensibly and convincingly communicate their own expert opinions to professionals and the public, and use their professional knowledge, expert skills and general qualifications in at least one foreign language. Using the theoretical findings of the branch, they can plan, support and manage the acquisition of further professional knowledge, skills and qualifications of other team members.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
The graduates will find employment at designing institutes and in research and development departments, developing electronic applications in the field of control and measurement technology, semiconductor power systems, electric regulated drives, and electrical power engineering, as managers, designers of electro-technical devices, and researcher and developers. The graduates can work at companies with electro-technical production, in the management of technological processes at production organizations, or in maintenance and repair operations. The graduate possesses a broad knowledge of the basics of Electrical Engineering. After the complementation of knowledge from another specialization, they can find employment in various areas of electrical engineering as well.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Examination regulations, assesment and grading are described in the Study and Examination Rules.
