Qualification Requirements: |
---|
Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam. |
Regulations: |
---|
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava. |
Profile of the Programme |
---|
The content of the Automotive Electronic Systems programme is supervised by the programme sponsor and approved in accordance with the Statutes of the FEI VŠB-TUO and the Study Regulations of VŠB-TUO. The branch focuses primarily on the field of automotive electronic systems (AES) with regard to the hardware architecture of AES, for instance, the design and development of hardware, reverse engineering, measuring and testing of AES, software tools for AES (software development, software processes, programming, data processing, etc.), methods used in ensuring computer safety and the reliability of AES, quality control when designing AES, and software quality in AES. In teaching, emphasis is placed on hands-on training, which constitutes an essential part of the project-oriented study (in particular, starting from the third semester) and the realisation of Bachelor's theses linked to industrial practice. |
Key Learning Outcomes |
---|
Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies |
---|
Knowledge: |
---|
Graduates of the Automotive Electronic Systems programme will acquire essential knowledge of mathematics and physics, the fundamental theory of electronic circuits, basic knowledge of algorithm development and programming, advanced theories of specific AES, software development tools, forms of programming and software development of particular AES, knowledge of the latest methods for the development of AES with regard to functional safety and reliability, the utilisation of computer simulation and modelling of AES, and teamwork during the development, testing, measuring and reverse engineering of AES. |
Skills: |
---|
In teaching, emphasis is placed on hands-on training, which constitutes an essential part of the project-oriented study (in particular, starting from the third semester) and the realisation of Bachelor's theses linked to industrial practice. In this way, the students gain the necessary professional knowledge and practical skills that should increase their ability to familiarise themselves with work for new employers in the automotive field. |
General competencies: |
---|
The programme is aimed at equipping the students with general principles for forming their own judgments in general, not just with regard to the area of their studies. For instance, students comprise teams solving long-term projects where the ability to communicate and the pressure on further learning help in achieving a common goal. As part of the team cooperation, students motivate each other, across the whole group, to be active. |
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples |
---|
Thanks to the professional skills gained during their studies, graduates will probably find employment in the R&D departments of companies that develop hardware and software for the automotive industry. Graduates can also establish themselves as automotive managers or project engineers, as well as executives in repair and maintenance departments. Graduates gain a wide theoretical basis in the Automotive Electronic Systems study programme, and after supplementing this with knowledge from other fields and specialisations, they should also be able to find employment in other areas of electrical engineering and computer science.
Graduates of the Automotive Electronic Systems study programme can continue their studies in the follow-up Master’s programme in Automotive Electronics or in other branches where the knowledge gained during the classroom and hands-on training allows them to continue their follow-up studies.
