Profile of the Programme |
---|
The study program Biomedical Technology is a three-year bachelor's study program with a long history, which is conceived as a multidisciplinary and represents a close combination of medical and engineering sciences. The aim of this study program is to educate an excellent expert in the field of medical technology with a basis of knowledge of the relevant theory and practical skills.
Graduates are trained as biomedical technicians with knowledge of technical cybernetics, which includes general knowledge of mathematics, physics and theoretical electrical engineering. They have good expertise in electronics and computer technology, which is complemented by knowledge of medical subjects to the extent necessary for biomedical engineering, such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, simulation and modeling of biological systems, biophysics and physical methods in therapy.
Special and deeper knowledge of graduates at the bachelor's level are focused on technical issues of biomedical engineering on sensors and sensors in biomedicine and their use, design and construction of medical devices, signal and image processing (signal theory, digital signal and image processing, analysis and interpretation of biosignals, theory of imaging systems), medical devices (diagnostic medical devices, therapeutic medical devices, laboratory medical devices, complexes of medical devices, imaging systems in the clinic), informatics and cybernetics (statistics in medicine, computer aided diagnostics, telemedicine, information systems in healthcare, simulation theory and modeling in medicine).
Overall, the profile of the graduate is oriented in the context of existing legislation, specifically Decree 55/2011 Coll. respectively its amendment to Decree 391/2017 Coll., professional societies and practice.
The graduate will be able to work with medical technology, including assistance in examinations requiring the use of this technology, control and maintain instrumentation, keep records and ensure its operation, operate medical software and cooperate in medical technology selection procedures. The graduate will find employment in connection with innovation, maintenance and operation of medical technology.
