Summary
Introduce students prototyping technologies and materials for construction of vehicles. Students acquire theoretical knowledge which will learn to apply during the construction of the prototype vehicle.
Students will understand the principles and applications of technologies suitable for prototype and small batch production, including their parameters and characteristics of the materials used.
Students are able to apply prototyping technologies and materials in the construction of prototype vehicles, namely assembly technology, manual forming, welding and bonding-composite materials
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Introduce students prototyping technologies and materials for construction of vehicles. Students acquire theoretical knowledge which will learn to apply during the construction of the prototype vehicle.

Students will understand the principles and applications of technologies suitable for prototype and small batch production, including their parameters and characteristics of the materials used.

Students are able to apply prototyping technologies and materials in the construction of prototype vehicles, namely assembly technology, manual forming, welding and bonding-composite materials
Course Contents
1. Assembly of composite parts - procedures for fit the individual body parts, procedures for solving problems with the dimensions. Methods for solving specific problems at assembly.

2. Mounting of chassis - procedure for axle adjustment, fix of geometry errors when installing, adjusting errors, tightening torques, control.

3. Technologies for manual forming

4. Assembly of piping systems for liquids and gases in vehicles.

5. Bonding of automotive components - the desirability and possibility of using a bonding applications. The principle of linking automotive parts, explaining basic concepts adhesion, wetting, cohesion.

6. Basic distribution of adhesives and selecting the proper glue - bonding technology of various types of materials, surface treatment for the better bonds, types of bonded joints. The most common mistakes in the constructions in the glue bonds.

7. Automotive Glass - prototype production technology of automotive glass, methodology for testing and approval. Replacement glass bonding methods, used materials, coating surfaces to be bonded.

8. Technology for welding car frames - the transfer of manufacturing drawings into the production process. Used technologies, engineering problems.

9. Technology for checking welds used in the prototype environment - the use of measuring arms in checking the accuracy of production and compared with the model.

10. Technology used for welding of metals and methods used in the prototype automotive industry - TIG, MIG, welding methods suitability for individual tasks and their use for welding frames and bodywork, welding automation with robots.

11. Solder in prototype production - suitability of soldering, solder surface finish, solder types.

12. Welding and repairing of plastic components - technologies and methods for plastics welding , prepare of welding surface, choice of filler material, problems in plastic welding, methodology.

13. Composite materials for the manufacture of vehicle bodies - manufacturing materials, production of negative forms, production technology and materials for the bodywork, bonding of composite materials, work with resins and sealants.

14. Materials for the manufacture of vehicle interiors - interior technology, interior trim, methodology, design of suitable materials. Requirements for materials used in the interior of vehicles.
