Summary
Learning outcomes of the course unit The course is focused on understanding the essence of strategic thinking, strategic behavior of entrepreneurial subjects, acquiring selected methods and approaches of strategic analysis of industrial enterprises. It acquaints with strategies at individual levels of industrial enterprise management and provides the basis for their successful formulation and implementation.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
- student will be able to characterize basic corporate strategies and principles of strategic management of industrial enterprise
- student will be able to formulate basic tools of strategic analysis of the company in the B2B market


- the student will be able to use his or her knowledge to decide on the appropriateness of using a specific analysis of an industrial enterprise
- the student will be able to apply his theoretical knowledge to suggestions for improving the strategic position of the industrial company
Course Contents
1. The essence of strategic management in an industrial enterprise. Missions, visions and strategic goals of an industrial enterprise.
2. Strategic analysis of the surroundings of the industrial enterprise.
3. Porter's Model of Five Strengths - The Purpose of Its Application, Determining Factors Affecting the Strength of Individual Forces in the B2B Market. Analysis of the life cycle of the field, analysis of competitive groups, scenarios of the future development of the surroundings of the company.
4. Analysis of the internal potential of an industrial enterprise, analysis of key competencies. Analysis of the value chain. Benchmarking.
5. SWOT analysis - determination of strategic position of an industrial enterprise, choice of suitable strategy.
6. Strategic alternatives at enterprise level - characteristics of growth / expansion, stabilization, limit / defensive attitude, form of growth.
7. Entry strategy of industrial enterprises on foreign markets B2B markets.
8. Strategy based on business portfolios analysis.
9. Porter's competitive strategy. Strategy based on life cycle analysis of the field.
10. Functional strategy - the main focus of marketing, financial, production, human resources, research and development strategy. Evaluation and strategy selection.
11. Financial-economic evaluation of business strategies - objectives, progress and outputs of the financial-economic evaluation of the strategy. Using multi-criteria decision-making in strategic management.
12. Implementation of a strategy in an industrial enterprise.
13. Strategic control and strategic audit in an industrial enterprise.
14. Modern trends in strategic management of industrial enterprises.
