Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Qualification Requirements:
Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
The aim of the specialization study is to prepare for study in a master's degree program or to pursue a profession. The aim is to educate a graduate who has the required theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience in the field and specialization, which he can actively apply either in the follow-up master's study or after entering the practice in solving technical design and construction tasks.
Key Learning Outcomes
Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies
Knowledge:
Graduates have corresponding knowledge not only in the area of theoretic subjects but first of all in the field-oriented on the machine - building. They are able to use the knowledge gained in theoretical subjects as a basis for practical design of machine parts and whole machinery. They know the function of basic machine components and have knowledge about basic principles and construction of chosen types of producing machines and equipment, about their operation and maintaining.
Skills:
Graduates know fundamental principles and skill in design and dimensioning of particular machine parts, constructional device and the whole machinery with respect of functionality, manufacturing technology, production cost and operation, industrial design principles including ecological viewpoint. They can actively use chosen computer programs for 2D and 3D applications of structural-design including the creation of technical documentation.
General competencies:
Graduates of the specialization will acquire knowledge of the main disciplines of mechanical engineering as a broad basis for creative application in the field of mechanical engineering, which they will use in the follow-up study and for further possible professional growth by various forms of lifelong learning. They are equipped with the skills and knowledge to enable them to grow professionally through creative involvement in the production process or by continuing their studies. They are able, depending on the situation and needs, to work individually and in a team, to recognize and formulate the essence of a technical problem and, based on the problem analysis, to propose, under given conditions, a realistic and feasible solution.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Graduates find job in the area of projection, design as well as modernization of producing machines and equipment, respectively as operators of this equipment. They find job ewerywhere where bachelor mechanical engineering education is required. They are well prepared for master study in the area of construction and design of machines and equipment.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Examination regulations, assesment and grading are described in the Study and Examination Rules.
