Summary
Basic terms of control and measuring systems, technical devices for
measurement and automation. Static and dynamic properties of measuring
elements. Principle and structure of sensors. Measurements and sensors of
position, pressure, temperature, force, velocity, acceleration, flow, level.
Technical means for transformation of signals (A/D-D/A converters,
amplifiers, ..). Controllers, microcomputers and PLC with industrial LAN. CIM-
CAD-CAM-CAMA-PPS systems.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Subject presents large application basis of Bachelor study in the area technical and program devices for control and their applications. Subject contains analysis of measurement and control systems from the point of view their instrumentation, using of PC for their adjusting and monitoring.
Course Contents
1. Understanding the challenges and the content of the studied subject. Control systems, measurement circuits, regulation and control circuits, control and diagnostic systems.
2. Static properties of the parts of measuring and control circuits (static characteristics, sensitivity, accuracy, reliability). Uncertainties (errors) measurements - (types, properties, calculation examples). Dynamic properties of parts of the control circuits (transient and frequency response, dynamic error, the identification of dynamic properties).
3. Principles of sensors - examples of passive sensors: resistive, capacitive, photoelectric, inductive, etc. Measurement and evaluation circuits for processing signals from the sensors.
4. Sensors and Transducers (structure, properties, types). Passive and active sensors - types, characteristics, examples of active sensors (thermal, photoelectric, piezoelectric, inductive ,...).
5. Measurement of mechanical force of static and dynamic variables (position, size, displacement, speed, velocity, acceleration, force, vibration).
6. Measurement of heat flow and temperature (principles, characteristics, contact and contactless readers, design, applications).
7. Pressure and flow rate of gases and liquids, liquid level and bulk materials, and other selected variables.
8. Actuators.
9. PLC Control Systems, Controllers, IPC, SCADA / MMI systems.
