Summary
Subject belongs to group of basic departmental subjects and closely concurs
especially to study of part of machines and mechanisms. Students acquire the
basic knowledge and attainments of the subject from point of view scientific
profile of graduate.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
The goal is to introduce students to the problems of tribology and tribodiagnostics, make acquaintance with basic concepts, types of lubricants, their basic properties and methods of testing.
Course Contents
Lectures
1. Introduction - classification system maintenance, history, definitions and concepts, economic importance, tribological system and processes.
2. Friction - classification, Stribeckova curve, friction conditions, the theory of friction, sliding and rolling friction.
3. Wear - mechanisms and types\\\'s wear.
4. Lubricants - classification and properties of environmentally degradable lubricants, additives to lubricants.
5. Tribometrie.
6. Lubrication Systems and Equipment.
7. Tribotechnical interpretation - screw, spring, shaft, gearing, chains, steel cables, brakes, clutch.
8. Tribotechnical interpretation - plain and rolling bearings, seals.
9. Tribotechnical interpretation - mining and mineral processing, transport (rail, auto, band).

Practice and seminars
1. Projection of educational films.
2. Calculation of rolling and sliding bearings.
3. Semester work - the solution of deleting a particular machine node.
4. Proposal for deleting the selected gear.
5. Seminar + test of knowledge.
6. Proposal for a centralized lubrication system.
7. The study of technical documents lubricating systems and equipment.
8. Software products to address the issue.
9. Semester defense work through lectures, credit.
