Summary
Human resource management provides students with a complete, comprehensive overview of essential management concepts and techniques anchored in the five basic functions of planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling. Human resource management refers to the practices and policies that need to be carried, namely conducting job analysis, planning labor need and recruitin job candidates, selecting job candidates, managing wages and salaries, providing incentives and benefits, appraising performace, communicatin, training and building emplyee commitment.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
- describe the basic functions of the human resources manager
- describe the historical and political evolution of public human resources management
- understand and evaluate the major ethical issues and value dilemmas that arise in formulating human resources management policy
- apply theory and research on human resources management to the day-to-day working of real organizations.
