Summary
The course provides basic knowledge of the traditional navigation and surveillance systems.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Students will acquire basic knowledge of traditional navigation and surveillance systems.
Course Contents
Shapes of the globe.
Circumference and diameter. Grid. Large and small circles. Rhumb lines and ortodroma. Convergence. Mathematical rhumb lines and finding the average ortodromy. Agona, isogona. Projections and maps. Display Properties. Spherical trigonometry. ICAO maps. Jeppesson maps. The Times - UTC, GMT, LNT, ZT. Time zones. Correlation navigation. Navigation of calculation.
