Summary
The course is based on module 062 – Radionavigation. The student will acquire competencies in the field of navigation, which allows him to pass the ATPL exams at the Civil Aviation Authority in Prague.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basics of construction and the principles of current navigation systems used in aviation.
Course Contents
1. Distribution of electromagnetic spectrum and propagation of radio waves.
2. Ground sights.
3. Radio aids - NDB - ADF, VOR and Doppler VOR.
4. Radio aids - DME, VOR / DME.
5. Radio aids - ILS, MLS.
6. Radars - ground radar, SSR and transponder.
7. Radars - on-board meteorological radar, TCAS.
8. Spatial navigation systems and RNAV spatial navigation.
9. The concept of PBN.
10. Navigation specifications of RNAV and RNP.
11. FMS (Flight Management System).
12. Satellite navigation system - GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO.
13. Extended satellite navigation system - ABAS (RAIM), GBAS, SBAS (WAAS; EGNOS).
14. Repetition, discussion, and consultation.
