Summary
The subject deals with aspects of operation, management and economics of air transport. It is devoted to the field of air carrier economics, defines the costs of air carriers and their calculation, revenues and prices of air carrier services. It deals with the management of strategy and cooperation of air carriers, marketing and competition in air transport. The practical part is devoted to the solution of the semester work. The aim of this semester work is to develop a case study of a selected airline.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
The subject´s goal is to acquaint students with the issues of operation, economics and air traffic management. Students will be able to orient themselves in the field of financial and operational indicators of air transport of passengers and goods.
Course Contents
1. Operating indicators of the air carrier.
2. The economy of the air carrier.
3. Economic indicators of air transport management.
4. The position of air transport as an infrastructure sector in the socio-economic system of the State.
5. Characteristics of the transport market, effects on its formation, harmonisation of conditions on the transport market.
6. Transport policy, airline business strategy, financial balance.
7. International and Czech air carriers, licensed commercial air transport – operating conditions, influence of the EU 'open sky'.
8. Organisational forms of business. Position of the function and basic structure of accounting.
9. Property of the airline. The company's fortune. Balance sheet.
