Summary
The subject Airport Handling Equipment deals with handling equipment and means for:
- boarding and alighting of air passengers,
- loading and unloading of loads for transport aircraft,
- loading and unloading of CARGO for cargo aircraft,
- towing and pushing aircraft at aerodromes,
- filling of aircraft with compressed gases,
- preparation and refueling of aircraft,
- preparation and filling of aircraft with operating fluids and media,
- launching aircraft,
- cabin service and catering,
- aircraft air conditioning and heating,
- de-icing of aircraft and application of functional media to the relevant areas of aircraft.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
By completing this course, students should acquire the following skills:
- identify airport handling equipment,
- describe the specifics of the function of a specific airport handling technique,
- decide on the optimal use and utilization of a specific airport handling technique,
- identify the capacity of airport handling equipment,
- identify weaknesses and find optimal solutions in terms of adaptation and replacement of specific airport handling equipment.

By completing this course, students should be competent to:
- basic design calculations of airport handling equipment.
Course Contents
1. Handling equipment for towing, extruding and pushing aircraft
2. Means for preparing and filling aircraft with fuel
3. Means for preparing and filling aircraft with operating fluids, media and compressed gases
4. Means for launching aircraft
5. Means for aircraft air conditioning
6. Means for de-icing aircraft and applying functional media to designated functional areas of aircraft
7. Means for cabin service and catering
8. Means for boarding and alighting passengers from aircraft
9. Handling means for loading and unloading cargo from and to transport aircraft
