Summary
Students shall understand how individual activities taking place at the airport affects each other (operation, maintenance and repairs of movement area). The content of the course also includes impact of aerodrome operation on the environment.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
The aim of the subject is to acquire an overview in the issue of airport design and operation with an emphasis on aerodrome movement area.
Course Contents
1. Division of pavement types, physical characteristics and construction of aerodrome movement area. Cement-concrete and asphalt concrete structure of pavement - construction, properties and requirements
2. Aerodrome manual – rules of airport operation and maintenance
3. Summer and winter maintenance of movement area - planning, equipment and procedures. Airport winter operation. Repairs and renewal of visual aids. Aerodrome drainage system
4. Pavement management system - monitoring of damage in pavements, causes and repairs
5. Braking actions, importance, affecting factors, methods of determination and form of publication
6. Impact of air transport and aerodrome operation on the environment. Noise and emissions
7. Airport wildlife control
8. Airport waste management
9. Air transport of dangerous goods
