Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Qualification Requirements:
Finished higher education in Bachelor's degree programme.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Programme
The Master's degree programme in Intelligent Transport and Logistics is a two-year programme following the forthcoming three-year Bachelor's degree programme in Intelligent Transport and Logistics. The study programme is designed with regard to the requirements of training experts in the field of operations planning and operational management of logistics processes, e.g. experts recruited from the positions of dispatchers of large logistics systems, logistics process planners and first-level managers in various areas of warehouse management, dispatchers of road, rail and air transport, production preparation staff, production processes, etc. These workers are needed in every medium-sized and larger company. In the follow-up Master's degree, knowledge and skills focused on digital and intelligent technologies in the field of 4-Transport education are deepened and applied.
Key Learning Outcomes
Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies
Knowledge:
The basic knowledge structure is in the area of : Logistics theory and management, operational analysis, modelling of transport processes and flows, material flows and logistics chains, economics of logistics processes, automation, computer science and robotics, digital and intelligent technologies, innovative practices and processes focusing on the latest trends in the context of the Industry 4.0 and Digital Factory 2.0 challenges.
Skills:
Graduates of the Intelligent Transport and Logistics study programme will acquire professional skills in terms of the use of technical terminology and the preparation of concepts, plans and technical documentation. They will be familiar with the principles of scientific methods of the field and be able to apply them in a practical context. The core competences of the graduates will include the ability to design intelligent transport and logistics systems and technologies used in in-house and off-site transport efficiently, taking into account the minimisation of their negative impacts on the environment. In order to design efficient technologies and procedures, graduates will be equipped with the necessary knowledge of the tools of basic logistics theory and management at all levels, modelling of transport processes and flows, including modelling of material flows and logistics chains, the use of simulation methods and other appropriate methods for decision support. Graduates of the Intelligent Transport and Logistics programme will acquire professional competences focused on automation, informatics and robotics, the development of intelligent technologies, innovative practices and processes in the context of the Industry 4.0 and Digital Factory 2.0 challenges.
General competencies:
The Intelligent Transportation and Logistics program will focus on preparing university-educated professionals who will be able to use engineering approaches based on generally accepted university computing methods and practices to solve problems. Within the framework of the study, there is the possibility to use extensive and long-established contacts with industrial partners both in the organisation and provision of teaching and in the solution of technical problems of practice within the framework of seminar and especially diploma theses. Graduates of the Intelligent Transport and Logistics programme will be able to act independently and competently make decisions in changing conditions and contexts across all modes of transport and logistics systems, with a focus on the use of intelligent "SMART" technologies in the context of the Industry 4.0 and Digital Factory 2.0 challenges, The student will be able to design and measure the parameters of movement processes in transport systems, control their benefits for transport operators and users of transport systems, design large-scale transport systems for road and rail transport including their cooperation in multimodal transport and evaluate their efficiency, reliability and safety in cooperation with intelligent transport systems. The graduate is able to creatively solve complex technical and economic problems, coordinate and manage technological processes within individual modes transport in the use of intelligent information technologies.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Thanks to the acquired knowledge and skills, the graduate is able to analyse and model transport relations and transport flows using SW tools and information technologies. Combined with managerial and economic skills, the graduate will find employment in positions in which he/she can design solutions to various transport problems and can ensure the mutual integration of vehicle systems into higher intelligent systems or in management functions in various positions of the state administration, etc. The graduate will also find employment in specialized professional positions and as an expert consultant of consulting firms, technologist of design firms, ITS coordinator or expert in academia and research and development institutions.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
