Summary
Characteristics of underground water, basic hydraulic characteristics of water
bearing rock, laws of filtration underground water through rock environment.
Systems of hydrodynamics structures. Hydrodynamic laws of groundwater flow in
rock environment. Flownet, streamlines, groundwater-table and piezometric
contours. Water-bearing environment and methods of determining their
characteristics -laboratory methods, empirical relation and methods of
hydrodynamics tests.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Our intention is to provide a broad coverage of topics (see annotation of the course) in order to acquaint students with the basic principles of the subject taught and their practical applications.

Course Contents
Methods of hydraulic parameters estimation. Hydrodynamic testing – methods.
Basic principles of hydrodynamic testing in situ, primary documentation.
Pumping tests in steady state flow – confined and unconfined aquifers. Dupuit equations.
Pumping tests in transient flow – confined and unconfined aquifer. Jacob, Theis, Neumann methods, type curves.
Boundary conditions, importance and appearance in hydrodynamic testing.
Recovery tests – Jacob method.
Development of depression cone, recovery. Well interference.
