Summary
The subject expands knowledge of Geodesy on measuring and setting-out of basic
elements, positional and altitude setting-out. There is also paid attention to
Error of Layout planning.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Getting students to use the normal part of geodesy and geodetic methods and special procedures for the purpose of the survey, design, construction or installation and during use of buildings and technological equipment.
Course Contents
1. Analysis of the accuracy of the measurement:
a. Accuracy of the measurement before, in and after measurement.
b. Classification of errors.
c. Permitted setting-out deviation and other indices of precision.
d. Variance and standard deviation.

2. Accuracy of the linear measurement
a. Systematic errors in taping
b. Sources of error and mistakes in taping
c. Accuracy of stadia measurement
d. Accuracy specification of the linear measurement by the EDM instrument

3. Accuracy in measuring the horizontal and vertical angle. Sources of errors.
a. Instrument errors
b. Personal errors
c. Natural errors
d. Centering influence on the direction and angle.

4. Sources of errors in the vertical control
a. Accuracy of leveling – instrumental errors, observational errors, natural errors.
b. Sources of error of the trigonometric leveling

5. Curves –setting out
a. Circular curves.
b. Setting out with theodolite and tape.
c. Setting out with two theodolites
d. Setting out using EDM (electronic distance meter)
e. Setting out using coordinates
f. Cubic spiral and cubic parabola
g. Vertical curves

6. Setting Out
a. Basic setting out procedures
b. Setting out buildings
c. Controlling verticality
d. Setting out routes
e. Underground surveying
