Technical and legislative options disposal and wastewater treatment. Methods of Cleaning - biological, mechanical, anaerobic. Background for design of small wastewater treatment plants. Options elimination of N, P, heavy metals and other harmful substances. Septic, infiltration strips, artificial wetlands, biological ponds. Management of waste generated in the cleaning process.

Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to characterize the basic methods used in the treatment of various types of industrial and municipal water. Graduates are able to identify individual types of water and identify the degree of their pollution. They will understand the main technological processes of wastewater treatment. Understand aerobic and anaerobic water purification processes. They will gain knowledge of sludge operation

2. Possibilities of sewerage and wastewater treatment in the Czech Republic. Sewerage network, characteristics, types, objects on the network.
3. Quantity and quality of wastewater, substance balances, pollution indicators.
4. Classification of biological treatment processes, cultivation conditions.
5. Characteristics of industrial wastewater.
6. Nutrients in wastewater. Nitrification, denitrification.
7. Urban wastewater treatment plants, domestic wastewater treatment plants.
8. Wastewater treatment technology.
9. Anaerobic biological processes - use in wastewater treatment.
10. Decentralized possibilities of treatment of wastewater.
11. Tertiary stage of wastewater treatment.
