Summary
The course comprises of preparatory technological processes of crushing and
grinding. Those processes serve for the preparation of material charge for the
preparation plant. The next process of sizing is used for the pre-processing
as well as the final processing of mineral resources. The individual
principles of preparatory processes are complemented with technological
information, structural designs of machinery and equipment used in material
dressing.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
The aim of the subject Mechanical Activation is to define technologies which will prepare raw materials for further processing or final treatment. Interpretation of the gained information will permit evaluation whether the raw material or waste may be processed or if more preparatory operations will be needed.
Course Contents
1. Working processes of raw material preparation, detailed specification of preparatory processes of mechanical loosening of mineral resources, purpose of crushing and grinding
2. Representation of crushing and grinding methods, decisive properties for the selection of suitable crushers and mills
3. Degree of crushing and grinding, cutter machines according to the degree of crushing, losses during crushing and grinding, crushing in open and closed circuits
4. Facilities for crushing – crushers, jaw crushers, principle of crushing in jaw crushers.
5. Cone crushers – acute-angled, obtuse-angled, principle of crushing in cone crushers.
6. Roll crushers – single-roll crushers, two-roll crushers with smooth rolls, with spiked rolls, three-roll and four-roll crushers
