he course is focused on natural mineral resources, especially mineral and thermal waters, their composition, treatment and possibilities of use, as well as on swimming pools, natural and artificial, on pool water, its treatment and disposal and on water management of swimming pools. |
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit |

The aim is create an overview of the occurrence, properties and possible use of mineral and thermal water pools on the principles of design with regard to quality, treatment and disposal of pool water and pool water management areas.

Course Contents |

Lectures:
1. Introduction - definitions, history, spas, baths and physiological effects of swimming
2. Pools - the default design parameters (water area, visits); pool water quality
3. Recirculating pool water treatment, recirculation setting amount
4. Recirculating pool water treatment - mechanical pretreatment, filtration (coagulation filtration) sorption
5. Recirculating pool water treatment - disinfection, reducing the concentration of soluble substances, removal of algae
6. Distribution of pool water (spatial flow in the pool, drain the pool, buffer tank, supply line); pools, shapes and sizes of pools
7. Water swimming pool areas - the need for water, discharge and disposal of water needed to heat water pool facilities
8. Mineral and thermal waters - their properties and division, basic concepts, legislation in the field of waste water in question
9. Geological types of springs, mineral water collection, gas collection
10. Use of mineral water - use bottled water as, external balneace; internal balneace
11. The composition of mineral water - metal, metalloid and non-metals in mineral waters, examples
12. Overview of mineral waters in Bohemia - a major source of mineral water, its properties and therapeutic effects
13. Overview of mineral water on the territory of Moravia and Silesia - the major sources of mineral water, its properties and therapeutic effects
14. Major sources of mineral waters in the world, their properties and therapeutic effects
15. Peloids - their properties, extraction and processing; use for medical purposes
Exercise:
Excursion to the spa (for example Jeseníky, Teplice nad Bečvou, Luhačovice, Klimkovice, Darkov)
