The subject should give you basic knowledge of water, its importance and
qualities.

-system of running the water management in the Czech Republic

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Contens of the subject is to introduce development, terminology of water management and its existing problems.
Course Contents
1.Water and its importance.
2.Basic terminology, structure and types of water.
3.Hydrosphere, the main negative influences, protection options.
4.Water management development. The concept of water management policy of the CR.
5.Water management. The main basins and basins´ areas.
6.Water legal system - development and current states of legal regulations.
7.Atmospheric waters, surface waters, ground waters, drinking water and mineral waters. Quality requirements.
8.Status of distribution of drinking water. Water needs and consumption.
9.Water treatment. The characteristic of pollutants, the ways of pollution expression. Development and current status of wastewater treatment in Europe, CR. Sewerage.
10.Water structures of CR. Classification by purpose.
11.Stratification, eutrophication,
12.Acidification.
13.Revitalisation of watercourses.
14.Floods. Flood Protection.
