Summary
After completion of the „Fundamentals of biology and ecology“ students will
understand the origin of life on Earth, the basic units of life – cells,
evolution of species and the diversity of life, ecology of communities,
dynamic characteristics of ecosystems and global issues of the environment.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
After completion of the „Fundamentals of biology and ecology“ students will
understand the origin of life on Earth, the basic units of life – cells,
evolution of species and the diversity of life, ecology of communities,
dynamic characteristics of ecosystems and global issues of the environment.
Course Contents
The biology part: basic information about living matter, its composition, structure and functions at various hierarchical levels.
The ecology part: basic concepts and principles of ecology at the level of the organism, population and community, the flow of matter, energy and information in ecosystems, the relationship man - biosphere (environmental contamination, the issue of substances hazardous to health etc.).
