Summary
The subject is the basic information proposal of computer hardware and software concepts. The topics are not in the fixed content regarding to advancement of computer hardware and software technologies, prior in personal area of usage. The subject familiarizes with common and special disposable input and output devices installed in the Department of geological engineering, or being usable in practices. The graphical information processing and graphical devices are preferred. In software developing area, the minimum of programming basics is practically training.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

Course Contents
1. - 2. Basic concepts in hardware.
3. The basic structural components of the PC.
4. - 5. Input devices, particularly common graphic devices.
6. - 7. Output devices, particularly printers and plotters.
8. Text processing: input, incl. OCR, processing and storing, output of text.
9. - 10. Basic types of graphic files, and processing methods of graphic files.
11. - 12. The issue of moving 2D image, introduction to 3D graphics.
13. Introduction to sound in computer environment. Fundamentals of software; basic terms, algorithms. Programming languages, translation and interpretation.
