Summary |
---|
The course deals with key issues in the field of occupational health and safety, occupational hygiene and fire protection. It provides a general overview of the principles of safe work and acquaints the students with legislation on health and safety at work. It explains the risks of the working environment, their effects, assessment and minimization in the working environment, including the risks of major accidents and industrial accidents. Furthermore, students obtain the necessary information from the field of fire protection, organization of fire protection units, their intervention activities, technical equipment and fire prevention. |
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit |

The goal of the subject is to create the ability of students to understand and interpret learned information in the field of labour safety and fire protection. |
Course Contents |
---|
1. Introduction to the subject "Occupational safety and fire protection". Basic concepts. History of occupational safety. Types of partial safety and its characteristics. Contemporary concepts of OSH. Safety hazards. Employers' obligations in the field of occupational safety. Rights and obligations of employees in occupational safety.
2. OSH education and training, types of training, training periods. Employer's expert advisers in OSH. Competent person in risk prevention.
3. Occupational accidents. Definition of occupational accident. Procedure for dealing with and compensating for work accidents, compensation for damages, exemption from employer's liability for damages.
4. Issues of occupational risks. Risk management. Search, assessment and elimination of risks. Categorisation of work and workplaces, risk factors, hazardous work. Health problems and occupational diseases.
5. Personal protective equipment, classification and specification of PPE. Technical requirements for PPE, use and maintenance of PPE.
6. Occupational health and safety documentation. Safety signs and markings in the workplace. Rules for placing safety signs in the workplace. Inspection activities in the field of OSH - Tasks and authorisations of state professional supervision bodies and organisations.
7. Influence of the human factor on the safety of the work process. Human working ability. Neuropsychic characteristics of workers and possibilities of its influence. The regime of work and rest on the level of safety at work.
8. Occupational health and safety management system in the company - a means for the implementation of a safety system. Reporting of operational accidents. Emergency planning.
9.Legislation in the field of fire protection. Basic obligations of all "entrepreneurs" in the field of fire protection. Obligations of natural persons in the field of fire protection.
10. Fire protection training. Types of training, training periods. Employer's professional advisors in the field of fire protection.
11. Burning process. Combustion products, risks, effects on the human body. What to do in case of fire, rules of conduct in case of fire outbreak.
12. Material means of fire protection. Classification of material means of fire protection. Classes of fires. Fire prevention. Preventive education, most common cause of fire in the home, most common cause of fire in nature.
13. Fire protection documentation. Description of different types of fire protection documentation. Rescue services of the Czech Republic. Integrated Rescue System of the Czech Republic and its components. Intervention of the IZS in liquidation of emergencies.
