Summary
The subject scope are celestial and terrestrial coordinate systems used in cosmic geodesy and transformation between them. Temporal systems in astronomy. Basics of undisturbed and disturbed satellite movement. Methods and equipment
for astronomical determining of location. Methods of cosmic geodesy.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
TThe course is focused on the principles of space geodesy and its applications in the creation of global coordinate systems, models of the Earth's gravitational field, creation of the global geoid model and geodynamic and seismic applications.
Course Contents
1. Introduction to space geodesy
2. Kepler movement - repetition.
3. Lagrange's planetary equations - outline of derivation.
4. Movement of artificial satellites in the gravitational field of the Earth. Gaussian planetary equations.
5. Non-gravitational disturbances of artificial satellite orbit.
6. Methods of observation of space geodesy
7. Geodetic, geodynamic and altimetric satellites, geodetic satellite missions.
8. Solving inverse problems of satellite geodesy.
9. Selected applications of space geodesy.
10. Models of Earth's gravitational field.
11. International IERS Service.
12. Determination of oscullating elements from two measured positions.
13. Determination of oscullating elements from state vector.


Excercises:

1. Keplerian motion - calculation of satellite position in Keplerian ellipse.
2. Determination of the flattening of the Earth from the analysis of satellite orbit elements.
3. Determination of altimetric geoid.
4. Tectonics from space methods - movement of tectonic plates.
5. Calculation of GNSS satellites position from onboard and precision elements.
