Summary
The subject is focused on metrology in general form, definition and development of units of measurement (especially SI systems), implementation and preservation of units, terminology, legislation, state and international institutions.
It also includes metrological traceability, verification and calibration of gauges. Particular emphasis is placed on the calibration of geodetic instruments and verification of their correct function according to international standards.
The content of the subject is a set of technical standards in geodesy and valuation of surveying activities














Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Gaining knowledge of metrology, calibration of measuring instruments, system of standards and laws valid in the Czech Republic and Europe.

1. History of metrology, measures and weights, terminology in metrology
2. Legislation in metrology
3. Division of metrology, classification of measuring instruments - state standards, standards in geodesy, metrological order of organization
4. Determination of recalibration intervals
5. Accuracy and uncertainty of measurement
6. Organization of metrology in the Czech Republic and Europe, description and characteristics of institutions related to metrology in the Czech Republic, CMI, CIA, UNMZ etc.
7. Testing and calibration laboratories, ČSN EN ISO / IEC 17025 Conformity assessment - General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories
8. Valuation of surveying services
9. Calibration of geodetic instruments
