Summary
Atmospheric physics, dust and industrial gas properties, dust separation, industrial gas separators, measurement of emissions and imissions, air pollution modelling, migration of chemical substances.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Course objectives: To provide fundamental information and knowledge about processing of dust removal and gas cleaning from anthropogenic air pollution. The accent is given on separating device, dust collecting device, air pollution control equipment, gas separator, technique for air pollution measurements, air pollution, monitoring and modelling the spread of air pollution.
Course Contents
1. Composition and structure of the atmosphere, its role, significance and protection
2. Thermal stratification of the atmosphere, stability classes (stability, indifference, lability). Vertical temperature gradient.
3. Pressure, basic quantities, atmospheric fronts, atmospheric circulation.
4. Air flow (basic types of flow in the atmosphere - laminar, convection, subsidence, turbulence, advection, geospheric and cyclospheric wind, meteorological characteristics).
5. Water in the atmosphere, humidity, condensation, fog, clouds (classification)
6. Meteorology (measurement and processing of basic meteorological characteristics (temperature, humidity, pressure, precipitation, heliograph, anemometer)
7. Air pollution and pollution - emissions, immissions, transfer, deposition, distribution of pollutants - characteristics, properties, sources of air pollution (distribution in terms of industry, place of leakage, etc.)
8. Greenhouse effect (causes, description, consequences)
9. Ozone depletion (causes, description, consequences), smog (causes, description, basic division, consequences)
10. Characteristic harmful effects on fauna and humans, characteristic harmful effects on vegetation. Characteristic harmful effects on inanimate nature
11. Measurement of immissions and evaluation of air quality
12. Mathematical modeling, propagation of ZL in the air (shapes of smoke sidings), scattering studies
13. Air protection legislation (implementing legal regulations, IRZ, ISPOP, etc.)
