Summary
The course concentrates on EU institutional structure and the general part of the EU law. It stresses the supranational concept of EU requiring the existence of its own legal system based on its subordination nature. Attention is paid to particular sources of EU law, its application in Member States and its enforcement.
This course concentrates on legal regulation of common EU policies and accession matters: competition law, tax law, consumer protection, judicial cooperation in civil and criminal matters, common foreign and security policy, particularities of Czech accession.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
In the subject matter students are supposed to:
- describe regulatory enviroment, define its subject, outline the methods of
regulation and list basal forms of regulation in EU law,
- applicate gained knowledge and comprehension to interprete and solve model situations,
- identify practical problem and infer legal regulation concerned,
- explain legal aspect of practical problem,
- interpret legal regulation.

1. Introduction to EU Law, internal, international and EU law, European integration
2. Supranationality principle, basic EU documents, institutional structure
3. Sources of EU law, their application, primacy and direct effect, legislative procedures
4. Enforcement of EU law
5. Proceedings before ECJ, preliminary references
6. Internal Market, the four freedoms
7. Free movement of goods, customs union
8. Free movement of persons, services and capital.
9. Economical competition. Subvention law. Public supplies. Commercial companies legal regulation.
10. Tax policy of EU, tax harmonization.
11. External international trade of EU – common trade policy.
12. Consumer protection.
13. Labour Law, and Social Welfare.
14. Human rights protection in EU. Actual development of EU.
