Summary
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
to analyse economic news and journalism in the mass media
to assess the suitability of resources to produce an economic report
to use journalistic genres to create economic news
to compare media focusing on economic information



Course Contents
1. Media in czech society - the role of journalism, position of media in contemporary society. Economic performance
2. Basic division of media according to the way of information transfer, according to the field of study. Media focused on economic information. Labor market
3. Report - origin and development of report and its types, report construction (pictures + audio). News in non-standard - extreme situations, analysis of current media coverage. Price and fiscal developments.
4. Reportage - development and current form in various types if media, reportage details, structure of report. Monetary Policy.
5. Interview - basic journalistic method, development and its present form, rules of interview, analysis of contemporary interview in Czech media. Development of the real economy - Agriculture
6. The specificities of the work of journalist in individual media (sources and obtaining of information and their processing). Development of the real economy - Industry.
7. Intersection of genres. Working with the language. Brevity requirements, journalist - interpreter, language clichés, work with numbers. Development of the real economy - Construction industry.
8. Investigative journalism, research, work with archive, internet and anonymous sources. Development of the real economy - Foreign trade.
9. Fundamentals of editing in printed media (content, language, formality, ethics) and presentation (headline, text readability, photographs). Development of the real economy - Internal trade.
10. Fundamentals of editing in electronic media: Presentation on radio - work with sound, live broadcasting, means to keep attention, editing.
Presentation on television - work with image and sound, editing.
Presentation on the internet - Interactivity, links, work with image and sound.
