Qualification Requirements:
Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Programme
The bachelor study enables to gain the expertise and skills focused on understanding and leading of managerial positions and processes in organizations; mainly in profit ones but also in non-profit organizations. The graduate will gain knowledge of microeconomics and macroeconomics, mathematics, law and marketing that are taught within the Economics and management study programme. Specific subjects of the Management study programme are focused on the field of operational economy proceedings and analysis of its effectiveness connected to accounting, taxes and financing, human resources processes, including the remuneration. The graduate will gain also deeper knowledge in the field of production management, pricing strategy, logistics and questions of sociological, psychological and socio-psychological knowledge applied in management activities. The attention is also paid to the management of small and middle-sized companies and to the acquirement of relevant managerial skills.

Knowledge:
to gain knowledge of the management theory, • to acquire the basic management principles, • to explain how the actual development of management influence current managerial practices, • to define the content of basic economic categories and the behaviour model of different types of economical subjects, • to characterize methods and procedures of the production system, • to classify, analyze and optimize costs, • to describe the company's income and to identify factors that influence them, • to explain what the social potential of the organization is and to define activities that managers involve within its development, • to describe the job performance management cycle, • to identify factors and tasks that influence the remuneration process in an organization, • to summarize the specifics of small business, • to organize and understand the demands on managers of small and middle-sized company, • to clarify concepts, principles and objectives of logistics, • to gain active knowledge of one world language.
Skills:
to diagnose own possibilities of managerial skills coping, • to deal with conflict situations, • to show presentation skills, • to apply an appropriate leadership style in working groups and teams, • to select suitable techniques for decision making and goals setting, • to identify appropriate methods for consumption standards determining in the company, • to optimize production costs, • to describe the preparation of the business plan and the budget, • to evaluate the termination of business activities, which would be the most appropriate in a given situation, • to diagnose the social, economic and managerial problems and to select realistic measures for its solutions, • to develop and apply technology survey, the questionnaire and interview, • to prepare and apply survey techniques, mainly the questionnaire and interview, • to develop skills for work on the PC.
General competencies:
to transfer the acquired knowledge and skills for practical management problems solving, • to organize and coordinate the team to solve a given task, • to analyze and compare the solutions to problems in order to choose optimal solutions based on economic, personal, managerial and substantive criteria, • to identify problems of the managerial practice, • to develop study skills and interest in the studied subject
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Graduates of this study programme will find jobs in manufacturing, business and engineering organizations, as well as in non-manufacturing organizations, usually at the elementary level of management. They are ready on the execution of professional management positions as staff specialists at various departments of the company. Graduates of the bachelor program will acquire basic economic knowledge and managerial skills that are needed for their own business. Graduates of the bachelor study also find jobs in counselling and educational activities in the field of management, either as professionals or managers.

Remark:
Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
