Outline of the course (subject to change):

  1. Presentation Skills
    • Apply the presentation criteria for the preparation and delivery of a presentation related to study abroad topics
    • Demonstrate the skill of responding appropriately to discussion questions posed after a presentation; speak spontaneously and comprehensibly in the context of the class (e.g. discussions, expressing one's own ideas, paraphrasing and summarizing others' ideas, including those that are in person, recordings and texts).
  2. Cultural Differences
    • Compare, contrast and evaluate different cultures
    • Apply the presentation criteria for the preparation and delivery of a presentation related to cultural differences
    • Pros and cons of cultural shock
  3. Administration
    • Practise filling in application forms for study abroad
    • Apply the principles of writing a cover letter and write a cover letter for study/work abroad
  4. University
    • Write a formal e-mail in the university context
  5. Library
    • Excursion including registration
  6. Accommodation
    • Manage practical topics
  7. Travelling
    • Manage practical topics
  8. Banking and Medical Aid
    • Manage practical topics
