This workshop will cover two essential tools that support research and academic writing: Writefull and SCITE. Both tools are available through university subscriptions.
The initial part of the workshop will focus on Writefull, including its writing and proofreading tools, and widgets. Writefull leverages artificial intelligence, specifically deep learning algorithms and a comprehensive language database derived from millions of published scientific texts. It aids in refining vocabulary, grammar, style, punctuation, and spelling.
The second part introduces and helps you test SCITE, the largest AI-powered citation statement database (with 200 million scholarly sources), with its many features, such Smart Citations, AI Assistant, and literature search engine. SCITE offers both a quantitative and qualitative view of how scientific publications cite each other. It helps quickly and efficiently find any research topic through smart citations, i.e., revealing the context of how the scholarly articles were cited (supporting, neutral, or contradictory evidence for a quoted claim). Other features include pre-built journal dashboards, option to compare rankings, and option to build collections of articles. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn about the tools, explore their features, and ask questions.
