Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2011/12 - City University of Hong Kong

I have pleasure in enclosing an e-poster regarding the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme, and would like to take this opportunity to introduce to you City University of Hong Kong.

City University of Hong Kong, one of the eight government funded institutions in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), is a modern, hi-tech institution committed to providing a quality learning environment for its students and the community. It has a vibrant research culture and has gained a good reputation for research and innovation in a wide range of disciplines.  It has an outstanding team of academics undertaking applied research dedicated to advancing knowledge to benefit society and the region.

The Research Grants Council (RGC) of the Government of Hong Kong SAR is calling applications for the “Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme”, which aims at recruiting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue PhD study in Hong Kong.  

The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (~US$2,600), and conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (~US$1,300) per year for the awardees for a maximum of three years.  In addition, Fellowship recipients at CityU will be awarded the “Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies Entrance Scholarship”, which covers students' tuition and on-campus hostel accommodation fees in their first year of research studies. 

For CityU nominees not selected by RGC for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship, they will be eligible to compete for CityU’s “Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies PhD Fellowship”, which offers a studentship that is equivalent to the stipend amount offered by the RGC for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme.
