The system of control system of the family house was improved under the control of foreign students VŠB-TUO during the holidays

"The control system operates as a network to which is connected, along with a number of household appliances also energy resources, and its behavior can be optimized according to specific criteria," explained doc. Ing. Bohumil Horák, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. "When you are on holiday, the house continues working. The lights can be turned on or off, the blinds can be pulled, and so on. Foreign students tried to join an electric vehicle to the network that could be in the active use of the network," explained Assoc. Prof. Horák.

The research team, which also included Czech students, was this year accompanied by two Chinese, one Polish and one Croatian student. Chinese student Shen Junwen, a student at a university in Shanghai, commented on the friendliness of local teachers and the opportunity to work in the laboratory. "In China, a large amount of students study at the same time and we do not have so many options to try out laboratory work, as I had during my stay at VŠB-TUO," said Junwen.

Assoc. Prof. Horák was very satisfied by work of the group of this year. "Many students take the importance of research of summer stays lightly, but this group was in the lab every day from early morning and you can really see it from their work," added Horák, who would like to welcome this group of foreign students to VŠB-TUO again.

Foreign students arrived at VŠB-TUO through IAESTE, which is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental and non-political student organization. The main activity of IAESTE is an international exchange programme for university students in the Czech Republic. Outside of this activity IAESTE prepares many other projects for students such as a catalogue of job opportunities, job fairs, etc.
