The Faculty of Safety Engineering presented its research results at the international symposium Loss Prevention 2025

From June 8 to 11, 2025, representatives of the Faculty of Safety Engineering at VSB–Technical University of Ostrava participated in the prestigious 18th International Symposium on Loss Prevention and Safety Promotion in the Process Industries, held in Bologna, Italy.

The faculty was represented by Dr. Ivana Slováčková, Dr. Petra Roupcová, Dr. Vojtěch Jankůj, and Prof. Aleš Bernatík, who delivered presentations showcasing the outcomes of their own research as well as collaborative projects.

Their contributions addressed topics such as:

  • safety culture in the oil industry (a case study from the Czech Republic),
  • risk analysis related to the use of ethylene oxide in sterilization processes,
  • consequences of gas cylinder failures during fire scenarios,
  • the role of hydrogen in major industrial accidents.

During the symposium, our team also met with internationally recognized experts – Ernesto Salzano, Stefan Spitzer, Enrico Danzi, and Sven Eckart – who will soon join the CESAR – Centre of Excellence for Security Research based at our faculty. These experts also presented their current research results at the event.

Participation in this symposium confirmed not only the high quality of our research but also the growing importance of our faculty within the international safety engineering community.
