From our university there have graduated many eminent figures, who have made significant steps in the areas of science and research. We cannot omit the vice-chancellors who, across the decades, determined the direction of the university development.

Georgia Agricoles Medals
The medal of Georgius Agricola for excellent work is awarded by the Rector to:
- outstanding lecturers at VSB - Technical University of Ostrava on their anniversaries, recognizing their excellent lifelong work for VSB - Technical University of Ostrava
- eminent foreign colleagues, appreciating their merits in cooperation between our universities or some institution and VSB - Technical University of Ostrava, or to those who significantly contributed to the presentation of VSB-TUO abroad
- educational, scientific and public authorities for their merits in developing VSB - Technical University of Ostrava
