Nanotechnology Centre of CEET at the VSB–TUO Open Days

26. 1. 2026 News
Last week, the Nanotechnology Centre (CNT), part of the Centre of Energy and Environmental Technologies (CEET), opened its laboratories to students, prospective applicants, and the general public as part of the Open Days of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.

Throughout the day, doctoral students and permanent staff members of the Centre were available to visitors, presenting current research activities as well as study opportunities in the field of nanotechnology.

In the Laboratory of Surface Characterisation of Nanomaterials, visitors were introduced to sonochemical and mechanochemical technologies for nanomaterial synthesis, along with methods for surface and dynamic-mechanical characterisation. The Laboratory of Advanced Nanomaterials showcased electrospinning technologies, including nanofibre production using the Nanospider device, as well as methods for characterising photocurrents and the photocatalytic activity of nanomaterials. The presented technologies were complemented by concrete examples of nanostructured materials and their practical applications, particularly in environmental protection and air and water purification.

Visitors actively participated in discussions and expressed strong interest in the conditions of study in the Nanotechnology degree programme, of which the Nanotechnology Centre has long been an integral academic contributor. Questions also focused on opportunities for international internships and mobility programmes, the university’s facilities, and student involvement in national and international research projects carried out within CEET.

The entire day took place in a friendly and inspiring atmosphere. The organisers would like to thank all visitors for their interest and look forward to future meetings.
