Students from Poland and Slovakia participated, gaining theoretical knowledge and practical experience in risk assessment, system dynamics, and nature-based solutions to enhance infrastructure resilience against the impacts of climate change.
The program was closely linked to the European Horizon Europe projects NATURE DEMO and CESAR, which are developing innovative approaches at VŠB-TUO to protect critical infrastructure and strengthen its resilience against extreme natural events. During expert lectures, participants were introduced to the concept of nature-based solutions for infrastructure protection and visited the CESIT (Centre of Simulation Technologies) facility, where they tested virtual and augmented reality simulations of crisis situations.
Field trips were also a key component of the program, allowing participants to connect the knowledge they had gained with real-world practice. The students visited dry polders in Bolatice and the Integrated Rescue System Center of the Moravian-Silesian Region, where they learned about the operational security of integrated rescue services and the principles of crisis management.
