Researcher MEL (D)

The Nanotechnology Centre, and Centre of Energy and Environmental Technologies, at the VSB–Technical University of Ostrava is seeking highly motivated, ambitious and  interdisciplinary post-doctoral scientists in the fields of nanomaterials, catalysis (photo- electro- , generally all aspects of heterogeneous catalysis) and in electrochemical energy storage. The ideal candidates should have a strong background in the field, evident from their publication record. The work focuses on interdisciplinary research aimed at understanding the challenges and identifying innovative solutions by designing and leveraging the properties of advanced (nano)materials and methodologies. The synthesized materials will be thoroughly characterized and tested for the targeted application and beyond, such as in energy conversion, catalysis, and photocatalysis via the interaction with other team members. The successful applicants will become part of a focused and motivated international team with exceptional infrastructure available at the lab.

Workplace Description

The Materials-Envi Laboratory of the Nanotechnology Centre focuses on the development of new carbon-based materials and  metal compounds using approaches from surface chemistry and atomic engineering. Advanced low- dimensional materials and single-atom systems are applied primarily in technologies  for solar energy conversion, energy storage, heterogeneous catalysis, water purification, and biomedicine.

Job Description

The employee in the position of “Researcher MEL (D)“ is involved in the project “REFRESH – Researcher Excellence For Region Sustainability and High-tech Industries,“ registration number CZ.10.03.01/00/22_003/0000048.

The employee will be primarily responsible for the performance of the following tasks:

  • conducting independent research and collaborating with other members of the research team;
  • collecting data for specific project outputs and their compilation;
  • participation in research activities within the designated live laboratory and potential collaboration on research activities in other live laboratories;
  • participation in the implementation of collaboration within their research program;
  • independently addresing complex scientific research tasks within their field and actively publishing.

The employee may undertake domestic and international business trips.

The employee is required to provide a summary of performed activities and outputs

  • Phd in Chemistry, Materials Science or Engineering,
  • 3 months' foreign experience at least,
  • H-index 7 at least, or 100 citations at least,
  • experience of working abroad or with international research teams and basic/applied/contract research projects.
