The Dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering announces a selection procedure for the position of
Postdoc (researcher) for civil engineering / geotechnics and underground engineering / architecture
We will accept incoming PhD holders who have obtained their PhD abroad, of non-Czech nationality, who are not residents of the Czech Republic or have not spent more than 12 months in the Czech Republic in the last 36 months, or PhD holders of Czech nationality who have long-term experience abroad. Long-term foreign experience can be considered to be at least 36 months, either in the form of doctoral studies abroad or in the form of employment at a foreign scientific institution, or in combination.

Workplace Description
The Faculty of Civil Engineering is the second youngest faculty of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, but it continues the 166 – year – old tradition of teaching building disciplines at VSB. Its establishment on January 1, 1997 literally forced the construction industry of northern Moravia and Silesia, which needs about 200 civil engineers of various fields and specializations every year. The Faculty of Civil Engineering provides universal construction education, extended by issues specific to the Moravian-Silesian Region (constructions in undermined areas, smoothing out the consequences of mining and industrial activities, production and processing of building materials, transport, underground and geotechnical structures, etc.).

- Carry out independent international-level research in one of the above-given fields
- Preparation of scientific publications for high quality internation journals
- Active participation in the internal meettngs and international conferences
- To establish a research team

- PhD obtained within the last 5 years (excluding career breaks, e.g. maternity/parental leave or long-term illness)
- PhD in civil engineering / geotechnics and underground engineering / architecture
- Expertise in new innovative technologies and civil engineering or architecture
- Scientific creativity and teamwork
- Independent conduct of research
- A publication record in peer-reviewed journals
- Fluent knowledge of the English language in both spoken and written form
