VŠB – Ostrava University of Technology has a built, maintained and certified quality management system in accordance with the requirements of the ČSN EN ISO 9001 standard. The system covers the university's activities within the scope defined by the certification and regularly undergoes internal and external supervisory and certification audits, which ensure its permanent compliance with the standard and continuous improvement.
The quality management system of our university is set up in such a way that the basic principles of the ISO 9000 series standards are fulfilled, which means that:
- we focus on the needs and expectations (requirements) of students, employers and other interested parties of the university;
- we manage university activities as a system of interconnected processes with clearly defined inputs, outputs, responsibilities and metrics;
- all decisions are made on the basis of real data from the monitoring and measurement of our processes, on the basis of implemented internal audits and other control activities, and on the basis of analysis and evaluation of the obtained results;
- the management actively supports the culture of quality across the organization and involves the entire academic community and other interested parties of the university in decision-making;
- we regularly review and optimize university processes in order to increase efficiency and quality.
We believe that a certified functional quality management system represents significant benefits for the university, such as or in particular:
- Improving the quality of educational, creative and related activities thanks to standardized and transparent processes.
- Greater satisfaction of students, employees and partners thanks to clear rules and responsibilities.
- Better risk management and more efficient use of resources.
- Support for continuous improvement and innovation in organizational processes.
- Increasing the credibility of the university with external partners and accreditation bodies thanks to certification according to ČSN EN ISO 9001.
The result of the last external audit
Based on the positive result of the recertification audit of the quality management system conducted against the requirements of the ČSN EN ISO 9001:2016 standard, which took place on May 22-24, 2025, VŠB-TUO was granted an ISO 9001 certificate valid until July 12, 2028. During the validity of the certificate, the university must submit to an annual surveillance audit that verifies that the management system quality is maintained accordingly.
