A team from a Vietnamese university won the drone competition
The second edition of the International UAV Competition 2025 at VSB - TUO brought three days of exciting battles. A team from HCMC University of Technology and Education won the competition, which combined technical skills, creativity and teamwork.

Six teams from four universities took part in the competition: HCMC University of Technology and Education, Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam Aviation Academy and VŠB-TUO.

"The competition is not just about drone performance, it is all about students combining knowledge, creativity and teamwork. I am pleased that our university is a place where technological innovations, international friendships and future scientific collaborations are created," said Rector Václav Snášel.

And how did the competition go? The students tried to use a drone to transport a load of tennis balls to predetermined areas in the shortest possible time. Flight time, reliability of delivery, return of the drone to the take-off point and compliance with other flight rules were evaluated.

Teams had to demonstrate not only perfect drone control, but also the ability to react quickly, cooperate and adapt to unexpected situations.

Jan Platoš, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, also praised the performance of all the participants, "We strongly support such events because they develop students' practical skills and motivate them to further development."

The UAV Competition supports talented students in the fields of electrical engineering, information technology, artificial intelligence and autonomous systems. It also contributes to the development of research collaboration between universities and opens up opportunities for future technology projects and start-ups.

The third edition of the drone competition will be held in 2026 at HCMC University of Technology and Education in Vietnam.
