She will help secondary school students to choose the right bachelor study programme from VSB-TUO's offer. All they have to do is write to her and Nika will choose the right study programme based on their interests, current studies or dream occupations. If students study for example in the construction field, but are also interested in ecology and smart buildings, maybe Nika will lead them to study a completely new study programme called Smart and Green Buildings in Circular Construction. It is a three-year programme at the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
"The new study programme will be focused mainly on building construction, but with a strong emphasis on new trends in building such as sustainable materials, the use of renewable energy sources. It will also be focused on water management within the building or energy saving," says Pavlína Matečková, vice-dean for FAST studies at VSB-TUO. The study programme is also new because it is a three-year programme, which is an exception at building faculties in the Czech Republic.
With the new study programme comes a new teaching space: a smart laboratory for teaching the use of artificial intelligence for building management. "It is a modern computer classroom and a laboratory with forced ventilation and a healthy indoor environment. It is equipped with sensors for monitoring basic physical quantities to check the quality of indoor air. In addition to modern computer equipment, the classroom is also equipped with interactive models to support teaching in exercises in professional subjects," says Iveta Skotnicová, who is the guarantor of the new study programme.
Other faculties and institutes of VSB-TUO participated in the preparation of the new study programme, in addition to the Faculty of Civil Engineering. The Faculty of Materials and Technology will guarantee the subject Building materials in circular building, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics the subject Management of intelligent and green buildings. The Faculty of Economics with the subject Basic traditional, behavioral and circular economics or the Faculty of Security Engineering, which provides the subject Fire safety of buildings, is also represented.
Not only for the new study programme Smart and green buildings in circular building, but also for other study programmes of VSB-TUO, applicants can apply for study by 31 March.
