The Rector of the university prof. RNDr. Václav Snášel CSc. and the Director of the hospital MUDr. Jiří Havrlant delivered an introductory speech. Participants learned more about the 170th anniversary of VSB-TUO, which the university celebrates this year, and on behalf of the University Hospital Ostrava (FNO), MUDr. Tomáš Paleček, PhD mentioned a recent celebration of the quarter-century after opening a new modern monoblock at the FNO. During the two hours, the speakers from both institutions presented topics and areas in which the university could continue to cooperate more closely with the hospital.
“The medical start-up incubator is an event that brings together scientists in the medical and technical field. Individual lecturers thus have the opportunity to offer an interesting topic to colleagues from the other institution who would be interested in it, and vice versa,” said the organizer of the event, doc. MUDr. Petr Vávra, PhD, Deputy Director for Science, Research and Education.
For example, the cooperation of the Clinic of Trauma Surgery at FNO with VSB-TUO or support tools for visualizing medical data were presented. The researchers also focused on the possibility of using geo technology for the FNO, and also presented ten-year research on tick-borne diseases with the support of geoinformation technologies. The meeting was concluded with an informal discussion.
“The cooperation between the FNO and VSB-TUO offers considerable space for further development in the area of both interdisciplinary fields and applied research,” concluded the co-speaker of the event prof. Mgr. Jana Kukutschová
The idea of organizing this joint event originated at the beginning of 2018. The individual workplaces offer opportunities for cooperation; they present problems they are addressing and need help with. It is about getting contacts. VSB-TUO and the FNO are bound by not only geographical but also thematic proximity.
