VSB – Technical University of Ostrava (VSB-TUO) has appeared for the third time in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, which assess and compare universities against the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to the latest ranking table, published by Times Higher Education on 21st April 2021, VSB-TUO has made it into the TOP 300 world universities in the category of Affordable and Clean Energy and is ranked as first within the Czech Republic. The ranking focuses not only on energy research but also on the universities’ social commitment to inform the general public about energy efficiency and clean and affordable energy.
In the overall ranking, which consists of the three best rated SDGs + the compulsory SDG17 (Partnerships for the Goals), VSB-TUO has been placed in the shared position 601-800.
The overall ranking of the 2021 THE Impact Rankings edition includes 1,117 universities from 94 countries and regions, which is 349 more institutions than in the previous year. Within the Czech Republic, 7 universities were included in the overall assessment, i.e. two institutions more than in 2020 - the newly joined universities are Charles University and Masaryk University.
The placement of VSB-TUO in the international rankings of sustainable development can be considered a success, as it reflects the attention that our University directs to the issue of social responsibility.
