On Monday, 16. 9. 2024, classes will begin here in the winter semester. The building has been under construction for twenty-five months and there is a fundamental change in its functioning for the university campus.
“Since the move of the Faculty of Economics to the campus, we are hoping for a greater connection with the other parts of the university. Many of our study programmes and projects span technical-economic areas and we hope that moving closer cooperation will help even more. For students and employees, all the advantages of campus placement will now be available, be it sports facilities or catering and accommodation,” Rector Václav Snášel evaluates the whole change.
Construction
The building was built behind the existing H-building and has one underground and four above-ground floors. A lecture room with 135 seats, 40 modern classrooms, 9 consultation rooms, 2 specially equipped classrooms and a study hall await students. The building also has rest areas, an outdoor atrium, a café with refreshments, underground parking with 174 parking spaces and a bike room. The staff has 148 offices. On the roof of the new Faculty of Economics building there are 409 photovoltaic panels with an output of 150 kW. The building also works with rainwater, which will be collected into a retention tank. The collected rainwater is after treatment used for flushing or irrigation of the green roof in the atrium. The new building also uses waste heat.
