Description
Companies worldwide are trying to develop technologies for energy recovery from biomass or waste. An important part of energy recovery from biomass is gasification. A co-generation unit for biomass has a gas generator which generates gas to be used to power the co-generation unit to produce electric and thermal energy. During gasification, fuel is converted into combustible gas, distillation products, and residues. When using waste-based fuel or agricultural fuels, the residues also contain low-fusible ash, from which slag forms. Slag causes problems in gasification and endangers the operation of the whole facility. The technology developed at VŠB-TUO almost eliminates the problems with sintering and ash/slag removal and thus prevents failure states.
